Davos Science City Award -

Call for nominations

What is the Davos Science City Award?
The Davos Science City Award recognises early career researchers who demonstrate outstanding scientific achievements and/or innovative science communication and outreach. Awardees must have a strong connection to Davos, but should not be currently active in Davos. Eligible candidates must be within 7 years of obtaining their highest degree (with the 7-year period extendable to account for career interruptions or periods when the candidate was not active in science).
The connection to Davos may include having completed part of their education in Davos (e.g., at SAMD or through a Master's/PhD thesis at one of the local research institutes) or having worked in Davos for at least six months.
This promotional award is endowed with CHF 3’000 and is presented during a public event organised by Science City Davos. The award ceremony includes a presentation by the recipient on their scientific work, followed by a reception. Travel costs for the awardee will be covered.

Who can nominate, and how?
The call for nominations is open to the public, allowing anyone to submit a nomination, including self-nominations. Nominations must be submitted via the Science City Award web form. Nominations will be accepted until 30 June 2026. The nominator is required to provide key information about the nominee’s scientific achievements, science communication efforts, and their connection to Davos.

Who selects the winner?
Science City Davos appoints a jury to evaluate the nominations. The jury’s decision is then ratified by the board.
